| | Shout - Michael Jackson | ] | I've been sorting out my LiveJournal, deleting old posts...etc... I thought I would separate this from my other post.

I've been kind of swept up in the passing of Michael Jackson. I'm surprised at the impact that it's had on me and it's all been rather strange. I could go on and on about my opinion of him, but all of my thoughts of him are based around what I've been shown...like most people. There's no way of us knowing who the true Michael Jackson was, but surely that's how it's meant to be.
The state of our obsession with 'celebrity' kind of scares me at times. I know for a fact that Michael Jackson was a truly amazing (amazing isn't even a good enough word) musician, dancer and all round entertainer. I didn't really care about his personal life, some of the stories about him in the press were so absurd at times that I found it all quite hard to digest. Everything you read has to be taken with a pinch of salt (a whole shaker in some cases).
As a fashion student his image has always fascinated me. I wanted to be him circa 'Bad' at one point in my life. 99.9% of the time he was well dressed and I've always been stunned at how well he pulled off womenswear, I don't see why though, he had the figure for it.
I don't know, I genuinely believe he was beautiful human being both inside and out. It's a shame the amount of ridicule he had to endure despite his impact on this planet. There is more proof out there of him being a good person than a bad person. I think that he was just totally misunderstood. |

So, yes...I still exist. Like I said in my previous post, I'm always lurking. I'm more of a listener than a talker (or at least I like to think this).
I've finished my first year of university which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's been an amazing experience so far. I helped out at GFW for the Westminster show...if you want to see it, here's Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. It was interesting to see the contrast between all the different students. Us first years had to help out the third years with their work, I helped Tahsin Osman, who did the first menswear collection to show. At the fashion show, I helped people to their seats and gave out programs, I'm lucky I wasn't part of the manic dressing backstage. It was really exciting, experiencing a fashion show in this way. I can't wait for it to be me!
I've got some garments and things I've done. I really need to find me some models so I can do photo shoots :D
I've also put payments towards my first place in London...it's so exciting and scary...I'm growing up.

I'm still being creative and productive...despite popular belief.
( Two things... )

It has actually been ages since my last post, for this I apologise...but really, who am I apologising to?
I would like to wish everyone a happy new year (how belated is that?!) and I hope everything is going well for you so far.
Sooo, since the last time I posted I turned 20 and I've been busy busy busy with university. I'm really enjoying it although it is hard work, but what's the point in doing something easy? I've made quite a few garments...I'll share them with you once I find the time to photograph them properly. I've also been designing a lot, it's quite shocking...my tutors say 'do 50 designs for next Friday' and amazingly, I just do it. Maybe I'll share some of those quick drawings with you too? Hmm...
Any illustration I do now is usually in my freetime, which sometimes I find very hard...other times I love, so it's give and take. My new userpic is from something I'm working on :)
Check out my Tumblr., I update it quite randomly, but if you care...have a little peek ;)
And, yes, I'm also on twitter...fun.
Well, how have you been?
x
P.S. I don't want this LJ to die seeing that I visit this site almost everyday...I just lurk, you see...

Long time, no update...how shocking? Not.
Well I've been busy busy since I started my degree last September. It's been really fun and I've been enjoying it.
I made a skirt toile which you can see on my Flickr, front and back.
My illustrative style has changed quite a lot in quite a short period of time. I think my style kind of got a bit stale so I think this change has revived it a bit. I've been taught by Richard Gray (who I have previously featured in my journal) who has sort of questioned the way in which I portray women. He's not into cute, he wanted my illustrations to be more edgy, hmm...
( Onto the illustrations... )

Soo...it's been a while! Well I finished my foundation, and my end of year exhibition went well...I achieved a merit, which then secured my place in Westminster :D You can see some information about my Final Major Project that went towards the exhibition here and also the portfolio I took to my interview here.
My summer holidays have been great, I went to Ireland for three weeks and and did a dressmaking course at the Grafton Academy, I did it in 2004 and I enjoyed it a lot then, too! Then I went to Hong Kong for two weeks, it was lovely, but not long enough! I hope to go back next summer.
I'm having a wonderful stress-free summer :D I can't wait to start my degree!

So, I finished my first term, it all started off shakey, but I really enjoyed it towards the end. I'll have to post the work I did next month...it's all back in Kingston, and I am now at home. HOME! It's so nice to just sit around and do nothing...wake up at 2:00PM...it's wonderful :)
Now I'm trying to choose between Fashion and Illustration...I hope I make a wise choice...
So yes, I finished animation and it was so much fun. If I had that kind of set up I would be doing more little movies. Although the one I created is only 12 seconds long...I'm still a teeny weeny bit proud of it, I don't think it's too bad considering it was made within a six day project.
It had to be based around a found object, mine was a two-pence piece. I know it doesn't make sense...
Watch it here on YouTube!
